Therapeutic Approaches
The therapeutic approaches used, are based on the training of the therapist and the needs of the child. The primary therapeutic means is play and the in conjunction to the use of techniques and theoretical approaches based on the needs that were identified during the evaluation.
The main approaches I use are:
-
Intensive Interaction (https://www.intensiveinteraction.org/)
-
Attention Autism (https://ginadavies.co.uk/)
-
TEACCH (https://teacch.com/)
-
Cognitive Behavioral Drama (https://www.cbdmethod.com/home)
-
Games and more specifically the use of board games as a therapeutic way of developing sociological skills
.
..each child is unique, so the approaches are always adapted to the needs of the child. Continuous research for the most appropriate therapeutic process is an integral part of our work as Speech and Language Therapists. However, these approaches should also apply to the philosophy and the believes of the therapist in order to be able to provide it successfully!
