About Me

Kika Giaxoglou
BSc Speech and Language Therapy, MEd SPecial Education (Autism Children)
I pursued my dream of finding ways to help people be able to communicate since Communication is one of our most basic needs.
Having already completed my studies in Psychology and Sociology at Sunderland University, I continued my education at Ulster University in Belfast, where I completed my degree in Speech and Language Therapy. I returned to Greece having worked for a year in a Health Centre, in Athlone, Ireland.
I worked for 11 years at the Foundation for the Children "Pammakaristos", N. Makri- Greece, with the main goal of providing ways of communication to people who did not have this opportunity. This could be achieved with classic methods of Speech and Language Therapy, through play in individual and group therapy sessions. My passion for technology and the need to find alternative means of communication led me to discover the GO TALK NOW application of Attainment Company (USA), which I incorporated into the treatments. This application was translated by a team I set up with other colleagues, and the Greek language - voice was launched!
During these years, I studied by distance at the University of Birmingham, UK and I completed my postgraduate studies in Special Education, specifically Childhood Autism. At the time of my dissertation, "Board games and their use in the development of communication and social skills in children with Autism", I got married and in 2011 I had a son.
The "new" role of the parent, and the growing phase of a child, went from theory to practice, with good and bad experiences that taught me patience and perseverance, "tools" very important in my work. Moreover, this new role taught me to give space and time for a child to be able to express themselves, develop and become autonomous!
My participation in conferences, research, presentations, seminars and everything else needed for my professional development was quite intense all these years.
After so many years at the Foundation, and with a strong desire to contribute to the local community, in which I grew up and now I live, in October 2016 I became a co-owner of the Institute of Communication & Child Development "Logos& Erga", in Rafina, where as a manager of the multidisciplinary team, I offered my know-how skills and services locally until December 2019.
So far my dream remains unchanged. I continue to provide my services to children and families so that they can taste the magic of communication.
