Parental Counselling
Parental counselling is an integral part of the therapeutic process of a Speech and Language Therapy programme.
The role of the Speech and Language Therapist covers the advisory process in matters related to:
-
how parents communicate with children
-
on the techniques they need to acquire or even modify
-
on the games they can use
so that they can facilitate the process of developing their children's communication and verbal skills.
As Speech and Language Therapists, we do not practice counselling techniques covered by fellow Psychologists. In the case of such a need or request from the parents themselves, a referral to an appropriate specialist shall be made.
